I have been involved in the Testing of Cloud Application and Web Portals from last 2 years for a Product development company.
They are using salesforce as their CRM which has an integration to almost around 20-30 different applications/web portals/databases etc.
I have recently attended a seminar on Salesforce Development for students officially sponsored by Salesforce and Organized by few Software Engineer from the Same domain.
This seminar was specially focused for the student and freshers to provide a brief introduction on the careers on salesforce development.
I know now you will be thinking what i am doing here since i am a QA guy. There were around 30 attendees from different roles (students, freshers, salesforce developers etc).
At the end of seminar we were interacting with all of the persons and distributing our thoughts on the careers in salesforce.
One of a person from the attendees asked me a question What do you do?. I said i am a QA Engineer and i am testing salesforce applications. This man was a salesforce developer working from last 1 year in developing salesforce applications. He was shocked in hearing my designation and work that he lost on thinking "Why do we need a QA Engineer in Salesforce?".
After coming out of the shocked he asked me the same. What do you test? What is need of testing in saleforce when we cover everything in unit testing?
I gave him another shock by saying "All the organizer and volunteers of the seminar were QA Engineers."
We explained him what we test and what is the importance of QA in every software development lifecycle.
In the recent few years field of testing has grown in such a way that it is now part of every software development lifecycle which helps in improving the quality of the applications.
